Bozar all over the P(a)lace - May

27 May'27
- 18:00

For this season’s final Bozar all over the P(a)lace, we, in collaboration with the Lithuanian Cultural Institute, pays tribute to the imagination of Aleksandra Kasuba and extends the experience centered on the journey of the fruit suggested by the exhibition Sweet, Sour, Power: The Voyage of the Fruit.

Goda & Jonas Palekaitė invite you to participate in a ritualistic eating-reading experience, The Digestive System of Humanity. Based on ongoing research, this project imagined through an artist and a chefcollaboration, addresses the hybridity of history and the agency of collective imagination. The performance script comprises numerous characters written by Goda and meals prepared by Jonas, and is arranged as an immersive experience in which each member of the audience takes a role. Reminiscent of a theatre rehearsal or a dinner at a friend's place, the characters shape-shift with every iteration but usually include Ancient Greek poetess Sappho, Swedish mystic and medium Emanuel Swedenborg, Karaite archaeologist and falsifier Avraham Firkovič, and many others whose existences questioned cultural clichés and political impositions. People of diverse identities, who operated outside the discourses of power, and were seen as troublemakers or antiheroes, are invited to the dinner – to discuss and digest what bothers them the most.

Meanwhile, the Lithuanian experimental vocal trio Edgy Palates made of Dainora Aleksaitė, Jūra Elena Šedytė and Ieva Parnarauskaitė, imagines a live music performance for the Horta Hall, in tribute to Aleksandra Kasuba whos exhibition remains open until midnight while archive interview is screened in The 23. Pushing the boundaries of vocal music, challenging traditions and redefining the power of the human voice, the trio’s recent work has taken free inspiration from Kasuba’s imaginary shapes.
