Han Bin Yoon & Dasol Kim
South Korea is an incubator for talented musicians. This Sunday we are pleased to welcome two of them. The cellist Han Bin Yoon, who studied at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, will be performing with the pianist DaSol Kim. On the programme are two gems of the repertoire. The Sonata for cello and piano, in g minor, op. 19, by Rachmaninoff, is the composer's most famous chamber music work. In turn a "sonata for piano and cello" such as Chopin's Sonata, op. 65 and "sonata for cello and piano" in the manner of Brahms, it gives rise to an exemplary dialogue between the two instruments. Schubert, on the other hand, with his majestic Piano Sonata, in g major, op. 78, described by Liszt as a "Virgilian poem", offers us a key work of the genre, drawn from the Romantic repertoire.
