Musick: A Sister to Poetrie

Born from the Advanced Vocal Ensemble Studies (AVES) programme at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, the InVocare ensemble brings together singers from all five continents, specialising in English and Italian madrigals from the 16th and 17th centuries. Their meticulous attention to original pronunciation, their seamless sound and their stage presence earned them the ‘IYAP Selected Promising Ensemble’ award from the International Young Artist’s Presentation in Antwerp in 2019. In October 2020, at BOZAR’s initiative, the ensemble took part in an online masterclass by David Crystal on the original pronunciation of Shakespearean English. InVocare invites us to enjoy the advances in their interpretation, through an immersion in the highly poetic English music of the late Renaissance.
