Victorina Eeckeloo is a young Brussels mezzo-soprano with a rich tone. Trained in Brussels, Rome and Rotterdam, Victorina is back in her native city for a breathtaking recital that combines the illustrious names of Monteverdi, Vivaldi and Handel, with the less well-known works of lutenist and composer Giovanni Picchi (ca. 1571-1643), and Barbara Strozzi (1619-1677), one of the great composers of her time. For this poetic baroque recital, Victorina is accompanied by two remarkable musicians. Young cellist Phyllis Bartholomeus plays with the ensembles Il Gardellino and Musica Gloria, and Bart Naessens, professor of harpsichord at the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven and at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, performs with B’Rock, Les Muffatti, Il Gardellino, Collegium Vocale Gent and many other leading ensembles.
