‘Bozar x Reset #6 : Christina Vantzou & John Also Bennett - Perila’

Brussels-based Christina Vantzou is not a new kid on the block. After six solo albums and at least as many collaborations, Vantzou knows better than anyone how to create a vast and at times disturbing soundscape with few resources. A processed piano, a winter bath of synths and unrecognisable voiceovers usually do the trick. But add flautist John Also Bennet (JAB) and the impossible becomes possible. Perila's passage at Bozar x Reset is all about her latest album Intrinsic Rhythm. The visual artist, DJ, performer and poet sees her music as a healing and transformative agent, and an invitation to open other layers of engagement with reality. Her soundscapes consist of field recordings, detailed breezes of sound, and, on her latest album in particular, subtle rhythms from the everyday.
