Belgian National Orchestra

‘Brahms piano double’

This event can not take place due to the latest restrictions regarding COVID-19.

The Belgian National Orchestra brings together two famous British composers in an exciting programme. First is Benjamin Britten, with his Matinées musicales, a suite of five joyfully rhythmic ballet pieces after Gioachino Rossini. Next comes Edward Elgar, with his sublime Enigma Variations, written at the very end of the 19th century, including the irresistible emotional power of the eternal Nimrod. Finally, we leave the British Isles for the continent in the company of the internationally renowned Silver-Garburg piano duo. The two musicians have commissioned an arrangement for four hands piano and orchestra of Brahms’s First Piano Quartet from Austrian composer Richard Dünser – a piece whose originality struck Arnold Schönberg.
