The film tells the story of former wrestling champion Kakhi whose devotion to his family leads him on a journey from his home in Tbilisi to visit his son Soso in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn. He is not studying medicine, as Kakhi believed, but is working for a moving company to repay a gambling debt to a local mob boss. Kakhi sets his mind to helping his son.

Born in Tbilisi in 1973, Levan Koguashvili frist studied at the Georgian State University of Theatre and Cinema in Tbilisi, at the Russian State Institute of Film (VGIK) in Moscow and at the Tisch School of the Art’s Graduate Film Program in New York. His first feature film, Street Days, was regarded by many critics as the beginning of a new wave of the modern Georgian cinema. In 2013, his second narrative feature, Blind Dates, world-premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and in 2016, he directed the documentary Gogita’s New Life. The film received an IDFA nomination for the best feature-length documentary.
