‘BRUOCSELLA, a resilient movement to give more room to the secondary river valley’

The Ecole Mondiale developed an alternative model for the city of Brussels while walking through the Senne Valley as an artistic practice and search for new forms of diplomacy. The specific hydrographical structure of Brussels, with its eight small river valleys, serves as the cornerstone of a model for the future in which the landscape plays a key role in the city’s governance. Students from Sint-Lukas Kunsthumaniora and art students from Sint-Lukas Brussels & ERG have set out on a walk together with the artists from Ecole Mondiale. How can we include a new voice, that perceives the city as a landscape, as an autonomous metabolism? Through a series of experiential sensorial walks students acknowledged and recognized these voices. The collective work is a registration of these experiences and walks in the environments of the river valleys, represented by sculpture, installation and a mural. During the exhibition Ecole Mondiale and the students will also organize a roundtable where conversations and testimonies on the experiences of walking will be shared.
