The Next Chapter. Live recording
Trumpeter, composer and bandleader Bert Joris is turning seventy, and we’re celebrating with the Brussels Jazz Orchestra. Joris and the BJO go way back: they have worked together for three decades, resulting in albums such as Dangerous Liaison (2006), Signs and Signatures (2010) and Smooth Shake (2017). Their most successful collaboration is undoubtedly The Music of Bert Joris (2001), an album admired from New York to Japan. For many, it set the standard for big band music. To mark his seventieth birthday in 2027, Joris reunites with the orchestra, once again combining his talent for soft, distinctive timbres and lyrical playing with the unique BJO sound. At Bozar, they will record the music for an album scheduled for release in spring ’27 and will also present new work.
