Sinfonia de Tango

In 1954, Astor Piazzolla moved to Paris in his early thirties to focus on classical music and study with the famous Nadia Boulanger. However, the French music teacher encouraged him not to disown his Argentinean heritage and to combine tango with symphonic music. The tango nuevo was born! Piazzolla makes the case for a modern expression of traditional tango with nods to classical technique and jazz. Almost a century later, Sonico and the Brussels Philharmonic honour this innovative period in Sinfonia de Tango. Expect brand new symphonic tango arrangements by Alejandro Schwarz and recently discovered work by Eduardo Rovira, another key figure in the emergence of the tango nuevo.
