Beethoven 9

Alle Menschen werden Brüder: thanks to Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony has these words by Schiller are ingrained in our collective memory. Based on a simple, recognisable melody, Beethoven builds up a masterful series of variations in the final movement that expresses Schiller’s hopeful Ode to Joy. The celebrated conductor Iván Fischer and Budapest Festival Orchestra present the Ninth in all its wealth and power, illustrating how Beethoven dispensed with all conventions. To mark 70 years of the Treaty of Rome and Beethoven’s anniversary year, a mass choir of more than a hundred voices will be descending on Brussels from every country in the EU.
