His father was an engraver, his daughter makes films. Together, they have covered countless miles. This is the story of the roads they have taken. It is a story of closeness and transmission. Of a body of work being discovered, of a grandfather caught up in the course of history. It is the story of a shared and universal territory.
Marie-Eve de Grave is a Belgian filmmaker who has been living in France since 1993. After studying art history at ULB, interior architecture at Saint-Luc, and scenography at La Cambre, she graduated from INSAS in cinematography. She first worked as a director of photography before writing the screenplays for her own films. In recent years, she has been writing and directing artist portraits. In 2025, she directed the documentary Louise Bourgeois, la sculpture et la colère, dedicated to Louise Bourgeois. Belle de Nuit – Grisélidis Réal, autoportraits (2020) earned her numerous awards. Alongside her filmmaking practice, she also writes for young audiences.
