Concert Croissant #03

Acoustic research, expressive intensity and colour form the heartbeat of the young Brussels-based pianist Cassandre Marfin’s artistic work. She released her first album Entre Plumes et Lumières, devoted entirely to Olivier Messiaen, in 2021. Now the musician is introducing audiences to her second opus, which will appear on the Cypres label in autumn 2025. Jusqu’à la nuit is the first part of a trilogy of albums investigating the intimate connections between sound, colour and light. The album is devoted to the synesthetes Olivier Messiaen, Aleksandr Scriabin and Amy Beach, all of whom bridged the gap between colour and sound in their work. The colour blue is often associated with the sky, water and the world of dreams, and it is at the basis of many images that spring from our imaginations. The colour will surround this morning concert with its mysterious aura.
