Lebanese composer and musician Charbel Rouhana ranks among the great masters of the oud thanks to his virtuosic technique and innovative approach. Rooted in rich Arab traditions, he has developed his own playing style that pushes the boundaries of the instrument. His music blends composition and adaptation: “It is a mixture of creations interwoven with fragments of melodies I love. I have no taboos, I play what I like, without worrying about trends.” He has accompanied icons such as Fairuz while simultaneously building an international reputation as a composer. Together with his ensemble, he explores a colourful musical language in which tradition and experimentation converge. Rouhana and his musicians head to Bozar on Lebanese Independence Day.
