Concert Croissant #06
The cellist Clara Dietlin was born into a musical family in 2001 and soon developed into a child prodigy. She was only nine when she participated in her first international competition – Violoncelle en Scène – and immediately won first prize. She was admitted to the Conservatoire de Paris at 17 and was only 20 when she was selected for the Opéra de Paris orchestra. Since 2023, she has played second cello solo for the orchestra. At present, the young Frenchwoman is artist in residence at Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, where she is perfecting her skills with Gary Hoffman. At Bozar, she will play the Prelude to Suite BWV 1010 by Johann Sebastian Bach solo, followed by Trois strophes sur le nom de Sacher, the work that Henri Dutilleux composed on commission from the renowned cellist Mstislav Rostropovich. After that comes an absolute masterpiece of chamber music: the Sonate by César Franck in a transcription for cello and piano.
