‘Closing Concert feat Kali Malone & Dedalus Ensemble’

Kali Malone is an American composer and musician based in Stockholm. She combines acoustic instruments – such as the pipe organ – with electronics to weave harmonic textures into a minimalist and captivating universe. Her works are like monoliths of sound that alter perception and offer a space of refuge, which can be attained through contemplation.

In the 1970s, Brian Eno laid the foundations of ambient music. The British musician, composer and producer sought to create music that was 'discreet and interesting’, 'able to accommodate all levels of interest without forcing the listener to listen'. Inspired by Erik Satie's furniture music, John Cage's indeterminate music, and La Monte Young's drone music, Brian Eno creates a series of compositions in the studio, based on strict formal processes that transport the listener to a spellbinding universe of sound. His albums Discreet Music (1975), Music for Airports (1978) and Thursday Afternoon (1985) established him as an innovative and influential figure in popular music. In Bozar, the Dedalus Ensemble reinterprets the music of these three albums. Without reproducing them identically, the musicians reappropriate the pieces to discover its new potential.
