Concert of the Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Guides

18 Nov.'25
- 20:00

Every year, the association "The Friends of the Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Guides” (AMRG/VKMG) organizes a gala concert at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels. As usual, this event will take place on the occasion of King's Day. This concert will take place at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 in the Henri Le Boeuf hall.

The concert will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of MAURICE RAVEL and will start with the dramatic but brilliant Overture to Gwendoline written by his spiritual master, Emmanuel Chabrier.

Next we have the Sicilienne, a joyful dance with a pastoral and sentimental character, composed by one of the teachers who had a particular impact on Ravel, Gabriel Fauré.

Then, the young Belgian pianist VALÈRE BURNON, 3rd laureate of the Queen Elisabeth of Belgium International Music Competition, 2025 session, will perform Maurice Ravel's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in G major.

In the second part of this concert, Ravel’s 2nd Suite of Daphnis and Chloé will  evoke an ancient  pastoral atmosphere and then we will accompany him to the United States to meet Georges Gershwin with his sparkling symphonic poem An American in Paris.

Faithful to its traditions, the Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Guides will conclude the concert with the splendid March of the First Guides Regiment.
