What does a musician have that a painter does not and vice versa? Why do we watch musicians in action and only appreciate the visual creation once the process is over? In his performance series Different Pieces, Brussels-based visual artist Wannes Lecompte invites musicians of international stature to create a performance abstraction together. Fascinated by these musicians, the visual artist accords himself the privilege of joining them on stage to "be active" and talk to them about music. For his performance at Bozar, Wannes is inviting two exceptional musicians, Phil Minton, a legendary British avant-garde vocalist and trumpeter, and Farida Amadou, a Brussels-based bassist and "sound artist" who is proving to be one of the most interesting figures in the new European free improvisation and experimental music scene.
