On 2 October 2018, journalist Jamal Khashoggi walked into the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, never to come out alive. In The Dissident, Academy Award–winning director Bryan Fogel (Icarus) exposes the deception and abuse of power behind the murder, based on unprecedented access to the evidence collected by the Turkish government, as well as conversations with those most closely involved in the case. This hard-hitting and disturbing documentary shows how no one can take on the Saudi regime with impunity.

Bryan Fogel is the Academy Award–winning director of Icarus and a 2017 Sundance Film Festival Special Jury Prize winner. He was awarded the Edward R. Murrow Award for Journalism, nominated for the a BAFTA Award, three Emmys, and the DGA Award for Best Direction. Fogel began his career pursuing stand-up comedy and acting. He developed, co-wrote, and starred in the Off-Broadway comedy Jewtopia and directed the feature film adaptation.
