‘Equinox - Passio’

Every year, Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon that follows the spring equinox. On the occasion of this Christian ritual of spring, Muziektheater Transparant and B’Rock present a performance of the rarely-performed St John Passion by Alessandro Scarlatti. The director Luigi de Angelis will be adding a visual component in the form of a video installation that lies somewhere between a baroque still life and a contemporary documentary. With the films of Pasolini among the sources of inspiration, it asks the question: Why is suffering such a common subject in the arts? Are we simply consumers of another's pain or can we actually share in this suffering?
