Portuguese immigrant Aurora works as a warehouse picker in a vast fulfilment centre in Scotland. Laura Carreira is a Portuguese filmmaker based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Her short films, Red Hill and The Shift, have been selected for numerous international festivals, winning several awards. Laura Carreira is a promising figure in contemporary European cinema. In 2022, the director was named one of the Rising Stars Scotland by Screen International magazine. On Falling is her first feature film.
