A Fireland loosely follows pyrotechnicians Margot Auzier and Patrick Auzier who live in a village in the Landes forest in South West France and part of a family that passes down the secrets of fire from generation to generation. This expansive, rhythmically driven experimental film connects the wizardry of these master pyrotechnicians with the forest and farmland they live on. As writer, director and also cinematographer Mona Convert creates a universe in darkness in-between documentary and fiction, interpersed with sudden explosions of light.
Mona Convert (1994, Paris) studied Fine Arts in France, Belgium and then Portugal. In 2019, she directed her first short film, ENTRE LES RIVIÈRES. In 2021, she moved to Béarn, where she continues her film and artistic work. A Fireland had it's world premiere at ACID Cannes 2024.
