Forêt, a film by Evi Cats – based on the choreography Forêt by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Némo Flouret. In 2022, De Keersmaeker and Flouret created Forêt to take place in several of the Louvre’s most iconic spaces, letting eleven dancers interact with depictions of whirlwinds, shipwrecks, and burning cities. Images that strongly resonate with our own tumultuous times. Evi Cats, a Rosas collaborator since 2022, captured the rehearsals and live performances from within, blending intimate close-ups with sweeping shots of the museum’s majestic halls. Alain Franco’s kaleidoscopic soundtrack traverses the space, forging a unique connection with the viewer.
Filmmaker Evi Cats (1994) lives and works in Brussels. Walls That Scream, her documentary about the traces of police violence in Brussels, premiered at IDFA 2022. Her latest and most fictional film, Waiting for a Sun Storm, touches on the (feminist) city and its layers of texture and time. The film won the Best Belgian Student Short Film award at Film Fest Gent.
