‘Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra & Santtu-Matias Rouvali’

Last season Johan Dalene shone in our Bozar Next Generation series, and this time he will be soloing alongside the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra in Sibelius's moving and melodious Violin Concerto. Obsessed with Finnish sagas, lakes and forests, the Finnish composer couples some Nordic folk influences with a late Romantic style. Musical imagination is also abundant in Strauss's Ein Heldenleben. In this symphonic poem, the composer manages to orchestrate the life story of a hero (perhaps himself?) in a playful and above all brilliant manner.
