The Gullspång Miracle is the story of an incredibly disturbing true story. Revealing deep tension but not without humour, the documentary describes the surprising discovery of two sisters, May and Kari, when they come across Olaug, their long-lost sister, who bears a striking resemblance to their deceased sister, Lita. The director, Maria Fredriksson, had no idea of the roller coaster ride that would await her as she filmed the journey of these sisters. From their unexpected reunion to the strange circumstances of their separation at birth.

The Gullspång Miracle is a fascinating documentary thriller, full of comical and embarrassing situations, with lead characters of such depth that even the most ambitious screenwriters wouldn’t dare invent them. A film about the complexity of family ties, identity and the persistence of beliefs.
