in the presence of the director

In 2007, French actress Juliette Binoche and British dancer‑choreographer Akram Khan stepped away from their established careers to embark on a bold artistic experiment. Over six months, they co‑created In‑I, an intense and boundary‑pushing performance that they would go on to present one hundred times across the globe.

Today, Juliette Binoche revisits that deeply personal journey. From the first spark of inspiration to the final applause, she traces the emotional and creative arc of a singular collaboration. Drawing on dozens of hours of previously unseen archival material, she reflects, as a filmmaker, on the essence of artistic creation: its vulnerability, the exhilaration of taking risks, and the personal transformation it demands.

Juliette Binoche is a highly acclaimed French actress, artist, and dancer, known for more than 75 films ranging from art‑house drama to Hollywood cinema. She rose to international prominence in the 1980s and 1990s, winning an Academy Award for The English Patient (1996) and receiving wide recognition for her roles in Three Colors: Blue and Chocolat.
