Brewaeys. Talisker
Ten years after his passing, Belgian composer Luc Brewaeys is extensively commemorated at Bozar and other cultural institutions such as DE SINGEL, Flagey, Concertgebouw Brugge and La Monnaie. In Talisker, created in Antwerp Central Station on the occasion of Antwerp 93 (European Captial of Culture), five soloists, a percussion ensemble and a large clarinet choir interact with the reverberation of the concert venue. The clarinets pick up the sound of the metal instruments from the percussion ensemble, and vice versa, making the echo wider and longer. Brewaeys' musical imagination seems inexhaustible. Perhaps the divine potion, to which the title refers, is involved? Or the brilliant musicianship of I Solisti and HIIIT?
