‘Ibrahim Maalouf plays Oum Kalthoum’

Ibrahim Maalouf celebrates the 10th anniversary of the album Kalthoum with a tribute tour. The gold-certified album is an ambitious reinterpretation of one of the most iconic masterpieces of the Egyptian diva Oum Kalthoum: Alf Leila Wa Leila (One Thousand and One Nights). Surrounded by a virtuosic jazz quintet, Ibrahim reinterprets this mythical work, imbuing it with depth and modernity, infused with his own artistic sensibility. Kalthoum was not only a musical icon but also a major feminist and political figure, whose legacy continues to resonate today. “Kalthoum is a celebration of women who have shaped history. I wanted to pay tribute to a voice that rocked my childhood and remains a monument for the Arab people”, says Maalouf.
