Tutu Puoane feat.Tineke Postma

“A respectful and highly personal tribute”
De Standaard

The South African/Belgian singer Tutu Puoane discovered the work of Joni Mitchell as a teenager and in a surprising manner: through a Janet Jackson song. After several albums and tours performing her own music and a number of notable collaborations (Brussels Jazz Orchestra, Wim Vandekeybus, etc.), Tutu is now embarking on a trip through the music and poetry of the Canadian singer. She is joined on stage by the internationally acclaimed Dutch saxophonist (and good friend) Tineke Postma, bassist Clemens van der Feen, drummer Jasper Van Hulten and her regular pianist Ewout Pierreux. Tutu Puoane does much more than simply cover Joni's music: her beautiful voice and unique phrasing put her very distinctive stamp on the music. The understanding between Tutu and Tineke is evident while the three men add their own personal sound without ever losing sight - or rather sound - of the original. The result is an extremely intuitive journey through an intense repertoire.
