Here we have two outstanding soloists with a passionate interest in chamber music. The two know each other intimately and frequently perform together, often in a trio with the violinist Isabelle Faust. For you, this evening, they have devised a predominantly Romantic programme of music by Schumann, Beethoven, and Rakhmaninov. With, amid all those Romantic torrents, some minimalist pieces by Webern, works that say a lot in very few notes. A concert of contrasts!
