Concert Croissant #13

Jingzhi Zhang from China was only four when she started playing the violin. Later she went to study at the Accademia Perosi in Italy and with Pavel Berman at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano. In 2021, she was a founding member of Quartetto Goldberg, which attracted many awards right from the outset. Jingzhi Zhang and her quartet are artists in residence at Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. At Bozar, the violinist will attempt the musical splits, combining the work of two German composers who are more or less opposites: Bernd Alois Zimmermann, with his masterly, serialist Sonata for solo violin (1951), and Brahms, who was inspired by a stay in the Swiss Alps to write his very sweet and Romantic Sonata for violin and piano no. 2. Jingzhi Zhang will end her recital with absolute musical fireworks by Paganini: the Variations on Di tanti palpiti, the aria from Rossini’s opera Tancredi
