Jlin & Ictus Ensemble

With her rhythmically complex and unsettling compositions, American artist Jlin is a distinctive voice in the contemporary electronic music world. She has collaborated with greats such as William Basinski, Holly Herndon and SOPHIE, but her raw, dark sound is also increasingly finding its way into acoustic arrangements. Commissioned by the Kronos Quartet, she wrote Little Black Book (2018), a haunting string quartet complete with bass drum. Her collaboration with Third Coast Percussion (Perspective, 2022) earned her a Pulitzer Prize nomination. Commissioned by Bozar and the LA Philharmonic, she is currently writing a brand-new work for the twelve-strong Ictus. Music by Ted Hearne, Goat and Dawn of Midi rounds off the evening.
