Enjoy the delightful sound of classical instrumental Iraqi maqam music in the presence of two master musicians from Mesopotamia. The quanun player Hasan Falih and the oud player Khalid Mohammed Eli are both virtuosos on their respective instruments. But what makes this concert so special, is the feeling that they convey with their melodies, which are like a balm for the soul. Their compositions take you on a journey to Baghdad’s cafés, alleys and minarets. Although Khalid Mohammed Ali spent several years collaborating with Kathem El Saher as a violinist, he mainly shot to fame as an oud player, winning several awards. His performances have inspired studies and even poems. Hasan Falih also works for the Iraqi singer, as a conductor and orchestra director. He is also a critically-acclaimed quanun player, and has already performed at the Royal Albert Hall.
