Slam Writing Workshop
Congo Eza is a slam-writing workshop that explores Belgium and the Congo and looks beyond our postcolonial relationship. Lisette Lombé and Joëlle Sambi lead the session.
Lisette Lombé is a multifaceted Belgo-Congolese artiste. She creates poetic objects (texts, collages, performances and installations) that transport us from Europe to Africa and back again. As founder of the Collectif L-SLAM, she was named Citizen of Honour by the City of Liège. She is most well-known as the author of La magie du burn-out and Black Words.
Joëlle Sambi was born in Brussels but spent her childhood in Kinshasa. In 2001, she came back to Belgium and studied journalism. Her stories are marked by the Congo and its history, as well as contemporary Belgium. Living on the border, she writes and raises questions about identity, norms, and belonging. She is the author of several works including Le Monde est gueule de chèvre (published by Biliki), for which she received the Gros Sel Jury Prize in 2008.
