Next Generation, Please! Festival

The Collège La Fraternité (Saint-Vincent campus) hosted a series of introspective, creative workshops, external workshops and trips. The workshops gave young people individual stories as a starting point, before tackling issues like citizenship, “otherness” and society. We went on an intercultural journey and then produced creative pieces in response, e.g. drawings, paintings, written pieces and sound recordings. They were developed as part of a pavilion project called L’Agora des idées. This took the form of a cabin for displaying the creative projects completed in the course of the project. It is not only an exhibition space, influenced by the multidisciplinary nature of the media used, but also a meeting place within the festival. The themes broached are citizen emancipation, social cohesion, the improved status of citizens’ values, fighting high school dropout rates and various forms of marginalisation. Furthermore, a project like the pavilion brings together people with a variety of professional backgrounds.

This project wants to ensure open-mindedness, and bring different social groups and generations together. Nikoo Nateghian and Eva Nothomb, from the Centre Culturel Omar Khayam, are responsible for the coordination and organisation of the activities, in collaboration with a group of artists from the non-profit organsisation IStudio/IS.
