Le Veilleur - Lou de Pontavice & Victoire Bonin

Guangdong and his wife Baoyan have organized their entire lives with the sole aim of supporting the education of their only son, a student at the prestigious Beijing Academy of Music. But now that Zhaohang is finally fulfilling his parents’ dream and moving abroad to pursue his career, they must face up to and make sense of this absence.

After studying literature, philosophy and film, Lou du Pontavice enrolled in the Directing department at INSAS in 2014. She works across documentary and fiction and is also a screenwriter. Le Veilleur is her first feature-length documentary. She is currently developing her first feature fiction film. With a background in art history and theory, Victoire Bonin Grais went on to study cinematography at INSAS. She directs documentaries and works as a cinematographer. Le Veilleur marks her first collaboration with Lou du Pontavice.

Le Veilleur received the Best Documentary Award at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.
