Bruther, a contraction of the names of its founders, Stéphanie Bru and Alexandre Theriot, was founded in 2007. Today, the office is based in Paris and Zurich and works in architecture, research, education, urban planning and landscape.

Bruther is known for its public projects throughout France and Europe and for its commitment to socially engaged and responsible architecture. The adaptability and scalability of the buildings are the primary considerations of the firm, which uses mainly industrial raw materials.

Bruther is currently building the new media house, Frame, in Brussels, in collaboration with the Belgian firm Baukunst. In 2020, the Paris office won its third 'Équerre d’argent' award for the university residence and its reversible car park in Palaiseau, on the Saclay campus (France), again in collaboration with Baukunst. Bruther won the Swiss Architectural Award in the same year.
