In an effort to ease traffic congestion in Dakar, the government of Macky Sall launched the construction of the first TER (Regional Express Train) line on the ruins of the working-class neighborhood of Guinaw Rails. The project erases an entire part of the city and forces its residents to relocate, with no guarantee of securing new housing.

Accompanied by his mother, filmed as she walks through streets and ruined buildings, recounting her daily life amid the debris, the filmmaker seeks to revive the memory of this place, which was his home for many years, so that it does not vanish under the weight of imposed progress.

Mamadou Khouma Gueye (1981) is a writer, director and mentor. After studying History at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar (Senegal), he launched his career in film by campaigning for access to cinema for the population of the Dakar suburbs, before moving on to directing. Liti Liti (The Attachment) is his first feature documentary which was selected in the Main Competition at Visions du Réel 2025. Mamadou Khouma Gueye has always defended the idea that art should make room for ordinary people and help to represent and raise awareness of sometimes difficult social and political realities.
