‘Little Palestine (Diary of a Siege) - Abdallah Al-Khatib’

The district of Yarmouk (Damascus, Syria) sheltered the biggest Palestinian refugee camp in the world from 1957 to 2018. When the Syrian revolution broke out, the regime of Bashar Al-Assad saw Yarmouk as a refuge of rebels and resistance and set up a siege from 2013 on. Gradually deprived of food, medicine and electricity, Yarmouk was cut off from the rest of the world. Abdallah Al-Khatib was born in Yarmouk and lived there until his expulsion by Daesh in 2015. Between 2011 and 2015, he and his friends documented the daily life of the besieged inhabitants.

Abdallah Al-Khatib was born in 1989 in Yarmouk. He studied sociology at the University of Damascus. He created the humanitarian aid association Wataad, which carried out dozens of projects in several regions of Syria, and in Yarmouk. He participated in several documentary films relating the life of the Yarmouk camp, notably being one of the cameramen of 194. Us Children of the Camp which premiered at Visions du Réel in 2017. In Sweden, he received the Per Anger Human Rights Award in 2016. Abdallah currently lives in Germany, where he was recently granted refugee status.

كانت منطقة اليرموك (في دمشق، سوريا) مأوى لأكبر مخيم للاجئين الفلسطينيين في العالم منذ عام 1957 وحتى عام 2018. وعند قيام الثورة السورية، رأي نظام "بشار الأسد" منطقة اليرموك على أنها ملاذ للثوار والمقاومة، وفرض حصارًا عليها منذ 2013. ومع حرمانها تدريجيًا من الطعام والغذاء والكهرباء، انقطعت منطقة "اليرموك" عن العالم. وُلد "عبد الله الخطيب" في اليرموك وعاش فيها حتى طردته "داعش" في عام 2015. في الفترة بين عامي 2011 و2015، قام مع أصدقائه بتوثيق الحياة اليومية للسكان المحاصرين.
وُلد "عبد الله الخطيب" في اليرموك في عام 1989. ودرس علم الاجتماع في جامعة دمشق. أسس جمعية "وتد" للمساعدات الإنسانية، والتي نفذت العديد من مشروعات في العديد من الأماكن بسوريا، وفي اليرموك. شارك في عدة أفلام وثائقية تتحدث عن الحياة في مخيم اليرموك، وخاصة لكونه احد المصورين السينمائيين في 194. "نحنا ولاد المخيم" والذي عرض في مهرجان "رؤى الواقع" في عام 2017. وفي السويد، حصل على جائزة بير-أنغير لحقوق الإنسان (Per Anger) في عام 2016. ويعيش "عبد الله" حاليًا في ألمانيا، حيث مُنح فيها وضع لاجئ مؤخرًا.
