Little Trouble Girls - Urška Djukić

A sensual coming-of-age story in which a sixteen-year-old wallflower is confronted for the first time with her sexual desires. Sultry choir-mate Ana-Marija unsettles Lucia, as does the handyman working at the crumbling convent where she lives. And then there is her faith, which only heightens the turmoil in her body. Little Trouble Girls explores, with tenderness and a fresh perspective, the intersection of burgeoning sexuality and religious constraint.

Urška Djukić is a Slovenian director, screenwriter and film editor. She studied at the School of Arts of the University of Nova Gorica. Urška Djukić’s most recent short film "Granny’s Sexual Life" has won over 50 awards, including the European Film Academy Award for Best Short Film in 2022 and the 2023 Cesar Award for Best Animated Short Film. Previous short films by Djukić also include "The Right One", part of the omnibus film SEE Factory Sarajevo mon amour that premiered at the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight in 2019. In the same year, Djukić participated in the 39thedition of the Cannes Cinéfondation Residency, where she developed "Little Trouble Girls", later awarded as the best work-in-progress project at the Les Arcs Film Festival in December 2023. "Little Trouble Girls" is her debut film that premiered at the section Perspectives of the Berlinale in 2025.
