‘Meet the Artist: Ai Weiwei - Screening "Rohingya"’

27 Mar.'23
- 19:30

Ai Weiwei is the guest of honour and president of the jury of the 15th edition of the Millennium Festival. At Bozar, the famous artist presents his new film Rohingya, in continuity of his documentaries exploring the condition of migrants. It shows the Rohingya who, fleeing persecution in Myanmar, have taken refuge in Cox's Bazar, a port city in Bangladesh that is home to the world's largest refugee camp, where over 900,000 Rohingya live. For several months, the director followed their daily life of customs and rituals: the expression of a dignity preserved when facing the greatest privations.

Before the screening, Ai Weiwei will discuss his film and experience with Pierre Simon Gutman.

A sculptor, filmmaker, photographer, writer and performer, Ai Weiwei is a Chinese dissident artist and a leading figure on the Chinese independent art scene. He is internationally known for his provocative and political art.
