‘Meet the Artist: Baloji’

Bozar is delighted to invite the multidisciplinary artist Baloji for an immersive evening around his latest works. Born in Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of Congo and based in Belgium, Baloji is an award-winning musician, filmmaker, a polymath artist. He is working as an art director, costume designer for fashion and other visual art forms (not to be mistaken with artist Sammy Baloji). Baloji will inaugurate his exhibition Baloji Augurism. at MoMu (Antwerp) on 21 October.
His last movie Augure (Omen) won the New Vision Award at the last edition of the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for the Oscars 2024 to represent Belgium. It will be screened in theatres starting from 15 November at cinema Palace.

The evening will provide an insight into Baloji's artistic vision suspended between oneiric and magical realism. In an intimate but collective atmosphere specially created for the event, audiences will have the chance to listen to Baloji's latest album phrases before diving into the film Augure (Omen). The screening will be followed by a discussion with Ines Eshun (writer and filmmaker) in the presence of Baloji.
