‘Meet the Journalist: Caroline de Gruyter’

8 Sept.'22
- 19:30

Caroline De Gruyter has been writing about Europe for twenty years. She does so in Vienna and Brussels. She is a correspondent for the leading Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad and also contributes in De Standaard, Carnegie Europe and Foreign Policy. Her latest book Je zult maar met iedereen ruzie hebben - Observaties over Europa is a collection of her columns in the NRC. Based on current events and drawing on history and literature, she writes about Europe's difficulties. Does Europe have too much power? Or is it too weak and too divided? Will France and Germany remain united? How is the Netherlands reacting now that the financial reins have been loosened and what are the consequences of Brexit? While the war in Ukraine has accelerated many developments, it has also highlighted the divisions within the European Union.
