‘Meet the Writer: Akira Mizubayashi’

The Japanese writer Akira Mizubayashi has at least two great loves: the French language and classical music. The former made him a professor of French at the University of Tokyo and he also writes novels in French. He incorporated his love of music into a novel that became a bestseller in France three years ago and was published in English this year. Fractured Soul (HarperVia, 2023) is a historical novel set in Paris during the interwar period. The book deals with the intimate relationship between humans and music, how music touches, shapes and comforts us. At Bozar, Mizubayashi will discuss his novel and the healing power of music. A special literary evening that reminds us that the sounds of the past can echo far into the future.

At Bozar, Mizubayashi will discuss his novel and the healing power of music with Axelle Thiry, journalist of Musiq3.
