Anne Carson is one of the most influential voices in contemporary English-language poetry. The Canadian poet is known for modern classics such as Autobiography of Red, The Beauty of the Husband, and Wrong Norma. During a unique evening at Bozar, Carson will perform her sonnet cycle Possessive Used as Drink (Me): A Lecture on Pronouns, which explores the relationship between language, pronouns, and gender identity. This rare performance combines poetry, audiovisual art, dance, and music, creating a rich, interdisciplinary experience.
The performance will feature a.o. the visual artist Robert Currie, a close collaborator of Carson for decades, the Icelandic dancer Aðalheiður Halldórsdóttir, and the English artist James Merry, renowned for his embroidery art and creating the masks for Björk. The evening will conclude with a conversation between Anne Carson and the performers, which will be moderated by writer and journalist Annelies Beck.
