Arundhati Roy's debut novel The God of Small Things won the Booker Prize in 1997 and became a modern classic. The Indian author moves fluidly between fiction, theatre, and political essay, crafting work that is as artistically bold as it is politically engaged.
Her fearless essays and speeches have made her a leading voice of resistance and solidarity worldwide, addressing issues such as human rights, environmental justice, and anti-globalization movements. From the conflict in Kashmir to critiques of nuclear policy and state violence, Roy has consistently challenged dominant narratives with moral clarity and literary force.
In 2024, Roy received the PEN Pinter Prize for her unwavering commitment to truth.
Her long-awaited memoir, Mother Mary Comes to Me, which she will present on stage, revisits a life of courageous dissent—shaped by language, imagination, and unshakable conviction.
This program is a co-production between Bozar and Passa Porta.
