‘Meet the Writer : Olga Tokarczuk’

5 Feb.'25
- 20:00

Polish writer and Nobel Prize winner Olga Tokarczuk will join us at Bozar for an inspiring evening on the themes of literature and the imagination. She will discuss her work and the transformative power of literature with Annelies Beck. Central to this is her latest novel, The Empusium.

Tokarczuk’s first book since winning the Nobel Prize is a captivating and enigmatic tale set in 1913. Mieczysław Wojnicz, a young student, finds himself caught up in philosophical discussions and strange occurrences at a sanatorium in Prussian Silesia. The novel provides a feminist counterpoint to Thomas Mann’s The Magic Mountain, and skilfully blends elements of the supernatural with philosophical reflections on human nature.

The conversation is in Polish, with simultaneous translation into English and French.

Co-organized by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute as part of the international cultural program of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2025.
