Legendary group Moğollar celebrates their 50th anniversary! Moğollar (‘Mongols’ in Turkish) is one of the first Turkish folk rock (or Anatolian rock) bands. Combining psychedelic and progressive Western rock, traditional Turkish music and folk poetic lyrics, they developed a unique style that made them one of the most important bands in Turkey. Very active in the early 1970s, the group won the Grand Prix de l’Académie Charles Cros in 1971 – an award given two years earlier to Pink Floyd – then split up in 1976, before reforming in 1993. Since then, the group has remained one of the most iconic bands on the Turkish scene, led by its two original members, Cahit Berkay and Taner Öngür.
