The Breton town of Morlaix is the setting for Jaime Rosales’s latest film of the same name. Three teenagers — Gwen, Jean-Luc and Thomas — watch a romantic comedy there and find that it reflects their own love triangle in a troubling way. The boundaries between fiction and reality are gradually becoming blurred. With Morlaix, Rosales combines still and moving images, formats and colours to create a lyrical, meta-realistic work.

Born in Barcelona in 1979, Jaime Rosales studied economics before moving on to cinema in Cuba and Sydney. A politically engaged director, he has won awards at Cannes and San Sebastián and two Goyas for The Hours of the Dayand Solitary Fragments. With each new film, Rosales experiments with new forms and constantly reinvents his work.
