‘The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices’

The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices is aptly named. For more than seventy years, the Bulgarian women’s choir has captivated audiences with its unique, raw timbre and enigmatic music. The choir became world famous when the Swiss ethnomusicologist and music producer Marcel Cellier, enchanted by Bulgarian folk songs, compiled an album of arrangements and​​​​​​​ found himself with an unexpected bestseller. Volume II received a Grammy Award, and since then the choir has given more than 1500 international concerts. There have even been collaborations with famous artists including Kate Bush and U2.
